Great Deal at Ritz-Carlton Kapalua Maui
I rarely write about big hotels because I think it’s more likely that travelers will have authentic experiences in boutique places or heritage properties. However, I visited this property in July, and I think you might want to take advantage of this great deal at the Ritz-Carlton Kapalua.
The hotel will be 20 years old in October and these discounts (valid through December 18, 2012) are part of their anniversary celebration.
The Ritz-Carlton Kapalua Maui “Legacy of Aloha” package includes:
- 20% off Deluxe, Deluxe Ocean View, 1 Bedroom Residential Garden View Suite,
1 Bedroom Ocean View Suite - $20 Daily Food and Beverage Credit
- 20% Discount on The Ritz-Carlton Logo Items
- 20th Anniversary Commemorative Gift
- 20 Ways To Say Mahalo Resort-Wide Promotional Booklet
- Complimentary cultural, environmental and recreational activities
What makes the Ritz-Carlton Kapalua different?
OK, so why am I writing about a “name brand” hotel? Because The Ritz-Carlton Kapalua is different. Consider this: during construction, an old Hawaiian burial ground was discovered on the property and the management voluntarily redesigned and relocated the multi-million dollar project. That’s pretty remarkable, especially when you consider that most of the oceanfront hotels in nearby Lahaina and Ka’anapali are built on burial grounds.
Also, The Ritz-Carlton has a sincere appreciation for Hawaii’s heritage. I doubt that any other hotels show the film Then There Were None – the award-winning documentary that provides a realistic look at the history of Hawaiian culture. The post-show discussion and tour is led by the hotel’s resident Hawaiian Cultural Consultant.
I was also very impressed by the Jean-Michel Cousteau’s Ambassadors of the Environment program at the Ritz-Carlton, which features an environmental and cultural education center. Activities for children and families range from underwater photography to tide pooling with a naturalist. Guests are also welcome to walk around the organic garden and learn about tropical fruit and local vegetables. The hotel also sponsors “giving back” projects such as beach clean-ups and opportunities to plant native trees.
Other cultural activities at the hotel include lei making and a “walk & talk” about Hawaiian wellness philosophies and medicinal herbs.
The Ritz-Carlton Kapalua creates an authentic experience for guests and offers five-star amenities. A complex of ocean view pools is surrounded by private cabanas, and treatment rooms at the Waihua Spa are framed by private garden showers and volcanic stone grottos. Of the 463 spacious rooms, 132 are one- and two-bedroom suites with kitchens that are perfect for families.
The hotel grounds, including the Ambassadors of the Environment complex, span 54 acres. The Kapalua Resort community also includes two championship golf courses, a world-class golf academy, a Tennis Center with ten courts, and three beautiful beaches.
Enjoy!
