Cozumel Vacation Rentals –How to Find a Home
Cozumel Vacation Rentals are not in short supply. However, it took my husband and me a couple of days to find a house that would meet the needs of our family. In fact, I thought we might go blind looking on VRBO, Flip Key, and HomeAway – and then we finally found the home of our dreams on Airbnb.
So what were we searching for when we waded through all the Cozumel vacation rentals? The house had to be spacious enough to provide elbow room for three generations living under one roof for two weeks. We also wanted a pool and a water view.
Of course, we could have just grabbed a couple of hotel rooms, but we never even considered that. A family needs a family room – and also a place to eat breakfast in jammies, watch movies together at night, and bond over meal prep. (OK, that last part isn’t true in our family. Our wonderful son-in-law does the cooking solo.)
When to look for Cozumel vacation rentals
The process of finding a Cozumel rental was complicated by the fact that we’d left it a bit late. We were looking in August for a house we could occupy at Christmas and New Year. Many of our inquiries went unanswered, either because the house wasn’t available or the owners were really lax about checking their email.
The Airbnb contact replied within minutes, which is consistent with my other Airbnb experiences. He was also great about answering questions promptly in the months after we’d booked. (I asked if there was a teapot in the house. Our granddaughter – still learning to swim –was concerned about the depth of the pool.) In reply to my questions about grocery stores, he sent me a link to a YouTube video.
Casa de Las Flores – luxury, privacy, space
Even though we were renting a car, the Guest Manager for the property (Victor) met us at the airport and led us to the house. Casa de Las Flores is located 15 minutes south of the town of San Miguel in a development of luxury homes. It was at this time that I realized our house was really managed by Cozumel Paradise Villas, and my Airbnb buddy was just a marketing contact.
Nevermind. Cozumel Paradise Villas took great care of us. When we used up the huge bottles of water they supplied, they brought more. When we couldn’t get the home theater system to work, Victor was there within minutes. And how’s this for thoughtful? When the CPV pool cleaner heard the construction noise next door, he invited us to spend the day at one of their unoccupied waterfront homes.
Cozumel Paradise Villas manages 57 Cozumel vacation rentals including our Casa de Las Flores – which really did feel like paradise. Some days we stayed home and hung out around the pool. Other days, we tried different beaches and the island’s attractions. We cooked at home and ate out. Read about our favorite restaurants here. It was all just glorious.
On Christmas morning, one of us was very relieved to discover that Santa had been able to find her – and all of us enjoyed a delicious breakfast of scrambled egg burritos made with very fresh local tortillas.
We’ve also enjoyed great vacations rentals in Hawaii and Italy.
Salud!

Casa Flores is very nice, you made a really good choice! We have a home there as well, Villa Coronado, and we used to share the same manager with Flores. We are located near Chankanaab. Glad you enjoyed the island, we love it there!
