I would love to travel to Australia and see the great barrier reef. Its always been a dream of mine to visit all 7 continents.
I’d love to go to Beijing! I think a trip to China would be out of this world: a trip throughout centuries and civilizations.
Right now I’d go to Bali – because I’ve never been there and I’m hungry for sun. No telling where I’d choose tomorrow…Travel is bliss – and a wonderful way to grow.
If I could travel anywhere in the world? Easy! I would travel to Spain! I got a taste of Spain many summers ago while on a summer internship there in college and it was NOT enough. I mainly stayed in Valencia, but being a student on a student budget, I was not able to travel (or eat!) as much as I wanted to. I caught glimpses of the various regions of Spain and the opportunity to go back, revisit, and explore in more depth has always been gnawing at the back of my mind. The freshly made paella, festivals like La Tomatina and the Running of the Bulls, the architecture of the Alhambra and Gaudi…I would love to spend a summer getting lost there!
On safari in South Africa would be my first choice. If you’ve been on safari you understand. If you haven’t… you need to!
Playing golf at Pebble Beach and then relaxing in Carmel for the evening. It’s so beautiful.
I would go back to the silver coast of Portugal and spend time traveling the back roads finding castles, farms, villages, treasure. twms
Wherever the dart lands on the world map….
I would have to say Bali to scuba dive and to take a cruise to the Komodo Island to see the Komodo Dragons. I spent 10 months traveling Southeast Asia about 5 years ago and unfortunately had to come back for a dying relative and never made it to the beautiful chain of Islands.
River cruising in EU for about 2/3 weeks would be nice. My transplant recipent hubby is not quite as spry as he used to be so it would be nice to be pampered when going from area to area.
I would love to go to Hawaii. I still haven’t been yet hopefully one day soon I will be on the Islands enjoying myself.
I have always wanted to spend time in Ireland, playing golf, fishing, drinking Guinness and the finest Irish whiskey. Although my heritage is mixed with relatives from Luxembourg, Scotland and Ireland I fee a particular attachment to my Irish roots. My wife is from Mainland China and I have traveled there with her, I would like her to see and understand my heritage. I envision us strolling the streets, chatting with the local, experiencing some fine dinning as well as pub grub and sit back an listen to some music and truly soak up the life…Yikes….I might not want to come back.
Paris, because I love Paris in the rain.
If I could travel anywhere I would like to travel to Tuscany with my husband for the honeymoon that we never had : )
I would actually love to come back to Carmel, I had my first visit 2 years ago and we actually stayed at the Cypress, Inn because we are HUGE Doris Day fans and it took us 2 years to save up enough money!! It was the most amazing trip, we are still working on our scrapbooks from the trip!!
This is hard but I would choose the British Virgin Islands for the sun and the water, specifically staying at Stargazer Villa on Great Camanoe…or…Carmel and the Cypress Inn. We were married on Carmel Beach and stayed in the Cypress Inn 6 years ago and try to return every year. I love the inn, every person that works there treats you like an old friend, love the food, wine in the courtyard and food from Terry’s Bar. I dream about that place all the time.
I have always wante to go to Thailand. There are few places on earth that are different from one another and Thailand and Bali seem like they’ve retained their original culture, heritage and architecture. WOuld love to experience this country!
I’ve been lucky enough to travel to many beautiful places…but I’ve never been to Australia or New Zealand. Australia seems like such an exotic place to me; I guess because it’s so far away (I’m in Fresno, California) and also because of all the wonderful animal species that exist there and nowhere else. I’d love to see the Barrier Reef. New Zealand seems like a gorgeous place and it would be hard to choose between the two countries. I suppose, in my dreams, I would visit both since they’re relatively close to each other…if I absolutely had to decide, it would be Australia.
I would hop a plane to Paris. It may be overly touristy but I can’t help it. I LOVE that city & I love to photograph it. I get up at dawn & hit the streets with my camera. There’s just nothing like watching the sun come up when you’re in Pairs. Next is an espresso & a croissant from La Duree or Paul. What’s not to love about Paris?
Would love to go back to Carmel and spend a few days rather than just a day trip…with money being tight that would make for a wonderful break…I heard that the best place to stay was Cypress Inn, because it is pet friendly….We would be able to bring our baby chihuahua, Beep…Now that our children are grown she is now the spoiled one….
Italy, because I’ve not been. Though I must say there is no place on earth that can compare to the Monterey/Carmel/Big Sur coastline! And I LOVE the Cypress Inn!
St. Lucia…. Where my wife and I honeymooned…. Would love to return and pretend we are in our 20′s again!
Argentina – Buenos Aires and the wine country near Mendoza.
I have dreamed of visiting one of my best friends in Monterey. She is in a wheel chair with a service dog, a husky, and this trip would make her so happy! Angie has health issues after becoming paralyzed in a car accident. She is an inspiration to all who know her and Angie and her service dog deserve this trip!
I would go to Dusseldorf, Germany. Most of my family came from there, so it would be a neat experience. My wife and I also love Gewurtztraminer, an excellent wine, so we would need to do some tasting while there.
Carmel because that is where my husband proposed to me! And the town is too cute for words!
If I could go anywhere in the WORLD it would be Carmel, Calif.
I have been there several times in the past and stayed at the
Cypress Inn and I want to go back, desperately. I must have lived there in a previous life (if there is such a thing) because I always feel like I have come home when I arrive. I haven’t been able to afford it since retiring but I still dream!
I would like to travel to South Africa for a safari. I’ve traveled to many places and love the people and their faces, but I long to add the animals and the majestic scenery into that context.
I want to go to Switzerland, Austria, and the Bavarian region of Germany. I love the how clean, well manicured, yet ornate look of these countries and regions. They are very culturally vibrant in their own way. I own and watch the “Visions” dvd’s from PBS and just dream of being there and walking around in the quaint villages on the hillsides. I’m part German and I’ve been looking into learning “German” from Rosetta Stone. I’ve looked into moving to Austria and I know that speaking German is not only proper but sort of a requirement.
Carmel-by-the sea… My Happy Place!
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
I’d like to travel to the island of Mauritius in the Indian Ocean. I am entranced by what I know of its beauty and the unique maritime culture it’s developed over centuries of trade.
I would love to go to Venice. Especially during the Masquerade Ball. I want to take a Mosaic making workshop through Orsoni Mosaici. Gondola ride. And, try to hunt down the real Venice behind the Venice masked with tourism. Oh, yeah. And, I’m going to have to take in a sunset while I’m there, hopefully to some Cathedral bells.
I just want to hop in the car and explore all the national parks.
Dying to get to Italy — Rome, Venice, Amalfi, Tuscany, …My family is from Northern Italy, and I’ve yet to visit. Just thinking about the food and wine is making me salivate :).
I would travel to the South Pole. One of the most remote and unique places I can think of.
I would go to Italy to see where my mother’s family is from or to Ireland so my husband could work on his Irish accent.
The Philippines to visit the beaches and enjoy the culture and food.
I’ve wanted to go back to Bali and explore more of Indonesia since I visited in 2006 for 12 short days. I thought Bali was a slice of paradise and stayed at both of The Four Seasons gorgeous resorts in Sayan and Jimbaran Bay. Unfortunately I had the travel companion from hell which put a bit of a damper on the visit. I’ve wanted to go back since the day I left and would love to have my spouse, David, accompany me.
Top of my bucket list is South Africa to go on safari!
I would like to visit South Korea. For me is a magic place with an outstanding history, culture, food, etc. Also Seoul, the capital, is full of historic places, beautiful modern buildings..Also Busan, Daegu, Incheon, Ulsan and the beautiful Jeju Island!
Believe it or not I’ve been researching eloping in the spring to Carmel-by-the-Sea and staying at the Cypress. I am a huge fan of european-style, boutique hotels. When I stumbled on the Inn’s web site via a Google search I was elated!! The fact that it’s dog friendly is a big plus for me as my pups are my fur babies. Would love to win this trip so I can marry my best friend on the hotel site.
One of my favorite places in the world is Carmel Ca. My Husband and I got engaged and then married there. It holds a very special place in our hearts ! We take our Bulldogs now up to Cypress and enjoy all that Cypress offers ! We are in Love with this little town !
Carmel, because then I can visit my friends and family who are all located there.
I would love to travel to Italy to see the art and architecture I’ve studied, and to try all of the country’s amazing food! It’s a trip I’ve always wanted to do but have never had the chance.
Toss-up between Germany and Italy…I think I’ll have to vote for both, with France thrown in for extra measure
Anywhere the QM2 sails.
The grandest ship on the seas!
South Africa and Australia on a Cunard ship.
South Africa to golf and safari.
New Zealand to sleep out under the huge skies and star gaze, ride horses and bathe in lakes…..
I would actually travel to New York City. I LOVE history, and I have always wanted to go there to experience New York’s history and architecture with my children.
If I could travel anywhere in the world I would love to go to Warsaw, Poland… being half German and half Polish I would like to see where my mothers side of the family came from.
Istanbul–it has always been a place of fascination to me. Cultures meeting in one place! Not to mention all the fascinating places to see.
Hawaii…. Never been and would love to enjoy the exotic islands with my family

I have never traveled abroad, but have been all over the west coast of the United States. I would love to see Italy some day for the amazing scenery, food and wine.
I would go to Bali. Ever since reading the book Eat, Pray, Love, I have wanted to go to Bali. The author made it sound so beautiful & peaceful & I would love to experience such a beautiful place!!
The Himalayan mountain range, via Bhutan and Nepal. I wish to see Mt. Everest at some point in my life.
I would go to Scotland. I’d love to ride horses on the beaches there and see the sunset over the cliffs. The castles and history are interesting to me personally since I’m Scottish born and raised on Oahu. Scotland would be such a contrast from the pacific I’m used to.
Dreaming of Royal Caribbean’s Allure of the Seas cruise – someday we’ll afford it with kids…
My wife and I would take our girls to Paris, we’ve been but we want them to experience at least a few days there. From there to the south of France and Rhone region and then finish up in Provence…Cheers!
I would love to go to Eastern Europe. Why? Because, to me, it’s always been this mysterious place – shrouded for so many years during the cold war. Of the people I’ve met who’ve been/lived there, I’ve heard wonderful things about the beauty of the landscape and people.
Africa. Enjoy wildlife viewing and haven’t been there.
Nicely done Elizabeth on your site and promotion.
Not only am I excited about entering, I am glad to promote the contest and site to my community of affluent adventure travelers.
To your success, Tourism Tim Warren
PS I used to live in Rancho Santa Fe and had many of my aerial photos of prime San Diego properties advertised in your fine magazine.
If I could travel anywhere in the world, I would go horseback riding in Iceland and visit the Blue Lagoon. I want to experience the tolt; a special gait unique to the Icelandic horse.
I would love to do a Monterey/BigSur/Napa Trip. And a Bali trip. And a Cinque Terra trip. And a Maldives Trip. I missed out on many travel years due to personal circumstances and cannot wait to catch up! Love your site. xx
I would LOVE to travel to Washington DC. I’ve went once in my life and it was the most amazing trip ever! I love looking at historical places and museums. I love just looking through our history and going on tours. It’s definitely the place I’d want to go visit again.
I’d love to travel to Turkey. It’s on the top of my list of places I’m eager to visit. Maybe it’s because there’s a great Turkish restaurant in my neighborhood here in San Francisco — Troya — and I love the food and the people there.
Carribean. I’ve heard my best friend talk about a trip that she’s always remembered.
Morea. That was where my honeymoon was and I want to go back.
I would go anywhere that has those little thatched huts sitting above crystalline water. I’ve always wanted to climb out of bed and jump into the water!
Antartica because it one of the last continent I have not visited yet…
There are so many places we haven’t been – Italy, Turkey, Eastern Europe, Ireland. It’s hard to decide. We’d enjoy any and all of them. In the U.S., I’d like to go to the San Juan Islands, because of the natural beauty and the whales.
Namibia for a Safari…because we heard so many great things about it.
Bali or Fiji…because we have never been there, and love tropical adventures.
My choice would be an island somewhere…probably Bora Bora.
Egypt, it has always fascinated me.
I want to travel to Israel and experience what many of my friends tell me is a magical place. I hope to take my daughter with me and reconnect with our religious secular past.
To Italy for the ART, the FOOD, and AMBIANCE!
Where in the world? Our bucket list is still long even though we’ve been traveling our entire lives. A river cruise in Europe is our next adventure.
I can honestly say that I love California so much because it offers soo much that I haven’t needed or wanted to go out of the area (Monterey County). If I could go anywhere I’d want to go to the Philippine Islands where my family is from. =]
I’ve been longing for a return visit to Greece’s Cyclades islands. Most have a small, or tiny, monastery at the summit, a refreshing hike up from the blue Aegean shore. In the springtime the sparkling whitewashed buildings of the hillside villages are a delight to behold, the donkey-wide alleys an adventure to explore. A visit with catch-as-catch-can ferry trips among the islands and no-reservation B & B stays makes for a wonder-filled unplanned vacation. Jet me to Greece! (Nice site Elizabeth!)
I went to Paris 10 years ago and I’d love to go back. Although I got to see the Arc de Triomphe and Eiffel Tower, and walked on the Champs Elysses, I didn’t have time to see the Louvre, Versailles, Giverny and a host of other sights. I was there only for three days. I’d like to go back to visit all the places I missed the first time.
I’d love to go to Greece. The country is so full of culture!
I want to go to Italy and Spain. My husband does not like to travel and he says I can see these countries on the Travel Channel. I tell him that I cannot smell or taste the countries on the TV. I would love to go there so that I can smell and taste both countries in person and not on TV!!! I so would love to travel there.
Cruising on a luxury hotel canal barge in Europe! I loved our hotel barge cruising through Burgundy and would love to repeat the experience on another river.
So many places to see in this great world of ours. One place I want to visit is the 7th continent–Antarctica.
New Zealand! I was born there, raised there, and lived there till I was 35 before moving to San Diego. There is a peace and tranquillity in the country that is as deep as the blue of the ocean and the green of the land. The people are welcoming, the scenery magnificent, and everywhere you go you feel as though you are home.
I would really like to take a road trip throughout the entire United States. There are so many places that I have not been to and would really like to spend time learning about. If I were to go outside of the U.S. I think I would have to say Australia. The exotic wildlife calls to me.
At the top of my bucket list is a trip to Antarctica.
Anywhere in Italy for the food and wine
I have been dying to go anywhere surrounded with water, sand and relaxation!! Morea or Fiji!!
So pleased I’m finally on your email list. Looking forward to your super articles.
I would like to go to Hawaii and propose to my girlfriend with whom I’ve been together with for almost 3 years. We met on a beach close to our home town and both love the ocean and marine life. If we win the trip I will even propose to her at the aquarium.
I would love to go to any third world country and teach English as a foreign language, or help build infrastructure in a rural community. Seems that I have gotten entrenched in this lifestyle with a job/mortgage/pets and don’t know how to accomplish this desire. Maybe Habitat for Humanity will be a good start.
I would love to take tango lessons in Buenos Aires with my husband of 45 years.
If I could travel anywhere in the world, it would be to Italy.
The place I would like to go is Singapore. It is supposed to be a fantastic place to visit.
Bora Bora
Rome, Italy. It is where my husband proposed.
The winner to be announced on Dec.20-my birthday!A warm island nation or the Amalfi coast of Italy would make a relaxing birtday/honeymoon trip.

Have been to Carmel twice and loved it. Have not been back since I have taken up golf. Would love to come to Carmel and play at Pebble Beach. What a dream!
I would love to go to Spain. The scenery and culture look amazing
I’ve just recently started traveling to new places. I love meeting the people, tasting the regional foods, and learning a bit of history of the areas. If I could travel anywhere in the world, my next trip would be to Italy. What part of Italy? Not sure yet, still deciding. Why Italy? Its rich in history and the countryside looks beautiful.
Carmel will always have a soft spot in my heart as my husband, Tom, proposed to me there (25 years ago). It was a magical and “romantico” trip!
And, since we are “Italians by Choice”, we hop at any opportunity to go to Italy. Check out the site: http://www.ilcampoitalia.com – Marlane Miriello spins magic with her Tuscan cooking school which also includes excursions that are life-changing. We are returning next year for her “Palio Adventure” week which will be beyond belief!
An Africa safari. I want to experience wildlife – while we still have it.
If I could go anywhere I’d go to Ireland. I’d like to photograph the amazing scenery and have drinks ins a real Irish pub.
My top destination is to see Aurora Borealis, perhaps in Alaska. I love the idea of being surrounded by majestic mountains and looking to see those amazing colors and forms. I see pictures and can’t even believe its real. To see in person, I think would be the ultimate sight and destination.
Istanbul. The best of all cultures.
If I could travel anywhere in the world I would travel to Russia. I’ve always been fascinated with the culture, history, and language.
Anywhere along the Mediterranean Coast!
Anywhere in the World? New Zealand because as beautiful as Hawaii is, my pop says New Zealand is even more beautiful.
to Antarctica to photograph the Emperor penguins
If I could travel anywhere I would go to India. The culture, colors, food, music, everything!
I would love to travel to Hawaii, i have never been there.
If I could travel anywhere in the world… The answer to that question changes all the time, but I generally prefer cold places. I’d love to visit Iceland, rent a 4×4, and spend some time driving around the island and camping.
I always enjoy European getaways… never a bad way to spend a few weeks… Of course Carmel is always a fantastic time too!!
Brazil, As Brazil is a wonderful country famed for its beautiful Latino ladies, magnificent rainforest and of course football. Similar in size to Europe the country unsurprisingly has a wealth of cultures and different scenery that would take years of one’s life to fully get to grips with.
