Trip Planning
I enjoy helping travelers plan custom itineraries that wander off the beaten path instead of following the well-worn trail of tourist sites. I especially like sharing boutique hotels where we’ve stayed and recommending things to do that aren’t written up in every guidebook.
Trip planning made easy
If you are lost in the maze of online information and would like advice from someone who’s been there – email me at ehansen298@aol.com. I understand that your time is limited, and I might just be able to save you hours – even days – of wading through websites.
Unlike travel agents who earn commissions from hotels, attractions, and tour operators, I charge for my time ($75 an hour) and let you go online and make your own bookings. These “direct bookings,” by the way, often save at least 10% because the provider doesn’t have to pay an agent a commission.
La Jolla, Australia, New Zealand, the world
If you are coming to my hometown of La Jolla (San Diego), California, I can provide tons of insider information. In fact, I’m pretty well versed in all things California. I also know New Zealand and Australia well because I wrote the Frommer guidebooks to those countries for ten years. I’ve obviously been to all the places I’ve written about on Authentic Luxury Travel, but if I don’t know your chosen destination, I’ll help you find someone who does.
My goal in trip planning is to help travelers avoid being tourists and, instead, have fun meeting local people on a personalized itinerary that allows for spontaneous detours.
I hope to hear from you because I enjoy planning trips almost as much as taking them.
In the meantime, check out this trip report from travelers who visited New Zealand on an itinerary I planned.
Cheers,
