The Royal Service from British Airways
We just flew from San Diego, California to New Delhi via London, and I was really impressed with the in-flight service. In fact, the royal service from British Airways had me feeling like a queen.
To begin with the BA cabin crew couldn’t have been nicer or more helpful. No request fazed them and – I have to admit – I’ve been told I can be pretty demanding. In addition, the meals were very good – blowing away my theory that good in-flight food had gone the way of the prop plane.
Our Business Class seats made into flat beds that were not the most comfortable I’ve ever experienced, but the upright position for reading, watching movies, and eating was better than most. I also really appreciated that it’s possible to move the meal tray out of the way should you need to leave your seat between courses. Raise your hand if you’ve ever sat pinned in your seat by a tray while desperately needing to use the lav.
Of course, the schedule was a welcome change after years of needing to fly out of LAX. The San Diego-Heathrow nonstop opens up the UK and the rest of Europe for San Diegans via connections with their One World partner airlines. Royal service from British Airways is offered from several other U. S. gateways.
At Heathrow, the Biz Class lounge offers complimentary 15-minute treatments in their Elemis Spa – another reason to feel like a queen. We made appointments and then enjoyed the lounge, which is huge and offers all kinds of food and drinks, computers, work stations, and couches in a darkened area for sleeping. Then we headed to the spa for my hydrating facial and my husband’s chair massage.
We used the efficient transit system to get to Terminal C for our flight to Delhi and – just when I thought the royal service from British Airways couldn’t get any better – the BA gate agent apologized for the fact that there isn’t a Business Class lounge in that terminal and told me I could show my boarding pass at the Starbucks that was steps away and have whatever we wanted up to £30. (This after just eating in the lounge.)
The London-Delhi cabin crew was just as nice, and I loved deplaning at Indira Gandhi International with a smooth face – thanks to my mini-facial at Heathrow.
I wasn’t mistaken for QEII – which is good since she’s several decades my senior – but I did feel as pampered as a queen.
Cheers,

Beautiful photo of you and Richard. I hope the rest Od the trip goes just as smoothly.
Last flew British Airways in 2009 – Their lounge at JFK is excellent and Terminal Five @Heathrow is great. We stayed at the hotel there for a night. Enjoy your trip. Sounds like it is off to a wonderful start.
May the Royal treatment continue……….
