Winners Report – San Francisco America’s Cup
In mid-September, we held a quickie contest on this site to give away two pairs of tickets to the San Francisco America’s Cup races. Barbara, from San Diego, was one of the winners and today I received the creative note you see above from her.
She claims it was easy to create in iPhoto, but she might just be being modest. In any case, I really like it.
She also added:
“The trip was a whirlwind. We left about 8 p.m. Friday night…arrived at the Econlodge in Buttonwillow at midnight. (Really can’t recommend it!)
Had breakfast in Los Banos. Got to SF about 1 p.m. Saw the first race. Second race was cancelled due to wind, but the weather was the most beautiful I’ve ever seen it. Did a bit of touring. Walked to North Beach for dinner. Got up early Sunday and drove home! Whew! But we’ll always remember the weekend we drove to see America’s Cup! (Felt like we were in college again!)”
The other pair of San Francisco America’s Cup tickets went to Dee, who lives in the Bay Area. She also went to the races on Saturday, September 14.
Dee originally wrote:
“Thank you for the tickets. Turned out it was probably the most amazing race of the series. Because of the race postponement from winds on Saturday, our tickets are good for the races Tuesday. Score 2 for us!”
And later added:
“Elizabeth, as it turned out, a race was canceled every day so every day we were allowed to come the next. By the 8th or 9th race, we couldn’t make it anymore so gave the tickets to avid fans behind us for them to pass on. “The gift that keeps giving.” Thank you so much for a great experience.”
I’m really glad that Barbara and Dee (and the lucky partners that accompanied them) had a good time in San Francisco.
Cheers,
